P.S.

Our roommate is gone!

And I forgot to mention that Emma's blood pressure is really low. 78/37 on two attempts about 2 hrs apart. They're leaving her off fluids all night hoping that tomorrow she'll be thirsty enough to drink.

I'm going to SLEEP :)

  1. Hi Meredith:
I have been following your blog for about a week and a half. I think I saw your blog link on Especially Heather? I wanted to let you know that you are all in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. I think what you and your husband (and all the others you write about and others we don't even know about) are doing is exceptional and such a God sent to those little kiddos overseas. I can't imagine giving up a child just because "something is wrong with the baby". Or why they have such an age label/sentence for these kids. It totally isn't the kids fault. Blessedly there are people like your family and others who have a special place in your heart for these extra special kiddos. We have a special needs daughter- she has developmental delays, sensory intergration, and seizures. They cannot find out why she is the way she,but she is our miracle baby (along with our son) we have suffered 10baby loses by 9 miscarriage in the last 11 1/2yrs. She will be 6 in July. She is so happy and loving and suprisingly healthy besides some allergies and GERD,unless you know our story or she opens her mouth, a stranger wouldn't be able to "see" the special needs. We use PECS, sign language, and verbalization so she can communicate what she wants/needs.

I was chuckling at your posts about Emma's roomates. I have stayed with our daughter twice now when she was in for seizures and we had very rude roomates~blaring TV, snoring, having to listen to the poor child cry and moaning in pain because the parents are asleep and not getting the nurse and we had one roomate the parents didn't care or give a hoot that their kid was in the hospital with something serious going on (had a real hard time with that one and containing myself from going off on the parents). Anyway, I just wanted to let you know I have been following your blog and wanted to contact you. Hope the rest of the stay is minimal and that Emma will be healthy enough soon to receive her heart surgery. You are all in our prayers. Oh, Happy Birthday to your husband (my birthday happens to be today also, but I bet I'm a little older). This was a surreal birthday for me as I have liver cancer with mets. to lung, stomach, spine and the doctors said I wouldn't make it to 34! Sorry maybe that was too much info-sorry;(
    Take care and God Bless,
    Danielle
