In case you didn't follow our family pre-adoption, here's a little info about Miss Brianna... By far her biggest struggle is with gross motor skills. She started sitting at 12 months, 'scooting' around 15 months (I think LOL) and crawling at 2 yrs. She started supposrting weight on her feet around 16 months but hasn't been really interested in walking. She did start taking steps while holding our fingers in September and now is doing great using her walker, cruising along furniture, and walking while holding our hands. One of the things we've been trying to get her to do is to stand independently (after she pulls up) for 30 seconds. We've JUST ABOUT met that goal as long as she has a toy in her hand and doesn't REALIZE she's standing!
But what we didn't expect to see was something I just happened to glimpse when I was making dinner tonight. Kristopher had made her mad and started singing "if you're happy and you know it clap your hands" which ALWAYS cheers her up. Well, instead of stomp your feet he said "stand up" and SHE DID!!
On a side note, yesterday I called and officially withdrew both Micah and Brianna from OT services. A combination of factors, really, but it boiled down to needing a bit less 'scheduled time' in addition to a time-change for that therapy which just didn't work well. Those things together made us realize that it would be best to stop for now. Both kids still get PT and speech and we'll continue to work on OT goals at home and on the go. THANK YOU MARCELLE for the time and attention you've put into working with my kids! We will miss you!
