Severe Weather

I should have known it was coming... today was 87 degrees...

And now "Doppler indicated tornado in the severe thunderstorm"... Tornado warning in effect for the next 20 minutes. Good times. This is the beginning of what's to come. But I do LOVE thunderstorms :) This one just means don't be in the Florida room, keep the kids close by, and call grandma (that has 2 kids coloring eggs at her house) so she will know about it too. The joys of Florida. I'll take hurricanes and the occasional tornado warning over months and months of snow any day tho.

  1. I live in California - earthquake country. We had a mild one yesterday. The natives just paused long enough to see if it was going to get any worse, then went back to business as usual. Non natives were in a panic. Kind of funny to us. My friends in Missouri thought it was funny when I was in a panic the first time I experienced a lightening storm. I guess it's all in what you're accustomed to.

  2. Move to the Pacific Northwest. Next to no snow (except this year), an occasional earthquake (2 in the 12 years I've been here). No really hot summers. Only an occasional windstorm and no tornadoes or hurricanes. You gotta love the rain though... I guess there is bad and good about everywhere. :)

  3. As much as I don't like snow, I'll take it over tornadoes and earthquakes any day! I guess that's how the US got populated, different strokes for different folks ;o)

I LOVE thunderstorms too, we get some great ones over Lake Ontario :oD

  4. We're about to need a boat, we've had so much rain. The roads are flooding and the rivers/lakes/streams are overflowing everywhere. We have more rain coming and the storms are supposed to be so bad tomorrow that school is getting out at 1300 so the kids can get home before the bad stuff hits.
But, I'm with you. Keep me in the south where the sun is out most of the year. I don't care if I ever see snow again!

  5. Oh man...tornados freak me out. I would take a snow storm ANY DAY over a hurricane or tornado. A snow storm can't really destroy your house, but a hurricane or tornado can.
