Proud owner of a BUS

Yes, seriously. When applying to get a tag for our new 12 passenger van the man at the dealership tried to register it as a truck. No go. A van. Nope. A bus? Yes, Ford has classified the E-350 as a BUS. We brought home our new vehicle tonight and took the back seat out. It now has seat belts for 8 and a decent trunk. Granted we laid down the wheelchair and put in the triple stroller and, if not careful, those two will fill up the entire trunk on their own! And though I don't look forward to getting the stroller in and out of the BUS since it's a lot higher than our van, I DO look forward to not having to switch between whether the stroller or the wheelchair is with us, or having to empty them both out to go grocery shopping. Or having to lift the kids backwards and sideways over seats to get them in their car seats from an upside down position. Or having to say "I can only take ONE of your kids on a play date unless you can drop the other one off to me, I don't have enough seats." Or having to take two cars when we're going out a set of grandparents. Or having to be the one to cram into the 'third seat' which was effectively taken over by the other 2 car seats in that row.

Yes, we're now the proud owners of a BUS.

  1. How nice to have ample space in your vehicle (bus)! I dont remember if I mentioned to you before, but the other day I was reading about E's nutrition (weight gain) and I remember before William's surgery he was not gaining weight and the ped put him on MCT oil that had a lot of extra calories (it helped some), he was on something else but can't remember what exactly it was a powder though and not near as expensive as the oil. Maybe this may be worth a try or talk about with the ped. Hope this helps.

  7. Congrats! I'd love to see some pictures. I don't know how it works for other families, but whenever we get a new vehicle we mysteriously end up with a new baby! Enjoy your bus.

  10. A "BUS" yes we own one too! We have had ours now for the past 6years. Just wait for the questions of those who don't know you....What school are you with? OR....What church do you work for? We get this often, more often at Sam's when we all pile out to do our shopping. I have Sam's shopping pictures, I'm going to post today. Happy you got a "BUS" I know you all will enjoy it :)

  13. I can relate to the contoring to get them our scenario, poor Amanda is manipulated out that way too. She thinks it is funny, and she is tiny enough for it to work, but it won't work when she is 10 pounds heavier.

I would love to see your bus, my sister has 9 daughters and they has a 15 passenger van-bus, she loved it.

  14. My family (11 kids & mom & dad) actually drove a 19 passenger short bus for a few years ;). You bet we got plenty of looks, haha!! Have fun driving the van (bus).

  15. Welcome to the BUS family... I too LOVE LOVE LOVE that back trunk with the seat out. I could never go back.

I had two flat screans installed, resonable amount of money to play DVDs up on the ceilings. They fold up out of the way and pop down when you need them. I could not ever go back to driving without DVDs. In our BUS..lol
