We have all the documents :)

There are so many things that could still happen, that we can’t quite say with any certainty that this will go through… BUT… it will NOT be because the director has stopped it.  Right now, we have ALL of the paperwork needed to submit to the court requesting to have a court date for her adoption!!

We will be the first adoption ever out of this institution, which means that there will likely be more dotting of i’s and crossing of t’s than in an area, like our previous adoption in Kramatorsk, where they are used to adoptions and push them right on through.  We certainly don’t mind having things checked and rechecked to be sure that they are all there and in order.  At the same time, though, we want to ask for prayer that those people that have the ability to make this legal process go quickly and smoothly step into the proper places and help to push it through.

Though we love Ukraine, we also have 6 more kids at home who we don’t want to be away from for longer than necessary.  We have already begun having discussions of when Michael might return home- whether after court as we originally planned or before court and have him come back just for court.

This day was the second BIG one for Aleksa, and it was great!  God has answered all our prayers about the director being receptive!!

Now we continue to pray that he is receptive AND… for court and a favorable and complete adoption process for both Aleksa and Wesley!

I realize I haven’t said anything about what Aleksa is LIKE… because I’ve been so overwhelmed by just the magnitude of meeting her!  I will post soon about our first impressions of her.  She is beautiful, and sweet, and headstrong :).  Sounds like the other 6 kids already! :)

  1. Meredith,

Congrats...so happy for you. Aleksa is the first baby adopted out of that institution...what happens to the rest? Do they age out and go on the streets or do they have an adult institution? Best, deb in NJ
