And no words. Because when I start to write, I realize there's even more to it than that, and it's bigger than that.. and...
It just doesn't work.
God is awesome. That's the story. God is working present-day miracles.
How else would a person who ministers in Ukraine "randomly" find the Facebook profile of someone and decide to friend them based on the way they spoke of their family?
How else would she then discover that they adopted children with Down syndrome-- and she happens to minister in orphanages that have many children with Down syndrome in Ukraine?
How else would that 'random' person then say "you should talk to Meredith" and then send her to me because I help with UA adoptions of kids w/ Ds?
How else would she introduce herself in email with the region she ministers in and I recognize it and respond asking if she knows the specific institution where Aleksa is?
How else would she know the child, and we both have photos available to us immediately while she is in UA and I was sitting at an airport in Memphis?
How else would she be able to come to the conference taking place in Kiev the following week-- three hours drive from her home-- and meet up with me (as well as getting a lot of info!)?
How else would she find the ability and favor to go to the director of the institution and share about our family?
How else would the director agree for us to come?
How else would our immigration be approved for two tho we applied for one?
How else would we be able to compile a full dossier in 2 weeks?
How else would we find the support and encouragement among those we thought would oppose another child being added to our family?
How else would we come to UA and hold this sweet girl again?
How else, aside from the absolute PERFECTION of Christ, the completeness of His love, the grace of His countenance...
How else... would I have kissed her head today and whispered I love you to her?
God continues to work miracles in 2010. Aleksa is our modern day miracle.
I can't even wrap my head around how BIG our God is to have arranged the end before the beginning and set the efforts in place, worked everything out in His way, in His timing, and brought us to this place.
God is amazing. Absolutely amazing. And I say this now, EVEN IF the director has a change of heart and doesn't sign. Because no matter what, GOD IS AMAZING for even TODAY to have happened.
I am really just overwhelmed by what God's done. It can't be explained away. There's no rhyme or reason for the circumstances, and as much as someone can argue 'coincidence,' there's really nothing which can cause all the things which God brought together to bring us to the day today-- EXCEPT GOD.
Nothing.
Alla (our missionary friend) reminded me today of this verse: Psal.37:4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
God is good all the time all the time God is good. God IS! Love MomP
