Shopping and planning for the next adventure...

Yesterday while Kristopher was at children's church, I went to Target to pick up a few essentials for our household (namely: gloves and probiotics!). While I was there I couldn't help but notice the LARGE amount of $1 items that are educational and therapy based! I called up Shelley and together we shopped for our trip to Ukraine!

We have all kinds of neat goodies for the therapy centers that we'll be visiting as well as things for the birth families to take home and use! It was so fun! Now I have a large duffel bag packed with teaching tools that either wouldn't be available there, or would be MUCH more expensive.

Now... what is the weather like in Ukraine in Mid-September, and what in the world am I going to wear to interact with all of these birth parents?? In Ukraine the women dress like they're going to a formal theater performance just to grocery shop. When we were there adopting, we didn't feel the need to "fit in" so well because we really weren't there for looks. We brought a nice outfit for court and for the SDA visit but that was it. Otherwise we wore jeans and since it was winter we always had a huge jacket on!

Looking forward to preparing for our trip! :)

  1. Hey meredith:) The temperature has dropped this week into the 70's. We asked about the weather in Sept. and they said it would be cooler. Like 50's-60's. They said sometimes they have snow by mid october. I will be bringing warmer items on next trip, maybe layers just in case:) Hope that helps...

  2. Ooo, what items? Let me know and I will check my target and send them to you if I can find them. That is, if you need more...

  3. Do you have a "wish" list or "supply" list that we could use to help with things you are planning to take to Ukraine?

  4. When we were there last sept it was gorgous! not too hot not too cold. still shorts or skirts weather bring a sweater though as it can get chilly. when we went back two weeks later in October it was COLD and felt like snow. dress in layers I guess, your famous motto. you can take some off if you get too warm. this year was warmer than all past and it was blasted hot all the time we were there. we were told THAT was unusual.
