Surprise!

We went to the cardiologist today and after 3 different reports from the orphanage doctor we were told today that Daria, for SURE, has.... A COMPLETE AV CANAL! Surprised? I'm actually surprised she's alive with that type of defect. This is the same thing that Brianna had and she was in congestive heart failure at 5 months old! Granted it's not as large as Bria's was (can't be) but still, we are surprised! So Cecil... if you'll please take note of that for your talk with the cardiologist we'd appreciate it. Her mitral valve is incorrectly formed but the other valve is fairly well functioning. Her pulmonary hypertension was pretty high but is now a little better and the cardiologist has NO flight concerns as long as she stays on her medications. YAY!!

  3. When I brought Alexi home, from Siberia, he had an ASD, VSD and AV defect. It was repaired about a month after coming home by Michael Black, in San Francisco. It was all done with a robot and Alexi was able to fly back to CO in 2 days. Niky came home with a VERY large ASD. He was 10lbs. at age 3yrs. His surgery was a month after Alexi's. They shouldn't have lived. God's hand held them till they could come home to our family. Today they are thriving. Dasha/Daria is so blessed, as are you. The family looks so happy. God is with you. Blessings. deanie and the boyz

  5. Meridith, you know both my girls have AVcanal defect also. Also both of them did very different with them. Mercede had more issues from having an AVCanal defect yet she didn't show signs of it. Cheyenne filled up with a pound of fluid a week after she was born. Yet Mercede went over 2 months without anyone even knowing she had a heart defect, and would of went longer if a geneticist wouldn't have listed to her when we saw him.

I'm just so happy you are going to get to bring them home and many prayers for you.
