I have had several people ask about the time-line of our adoption once we leave the US. Here's a general idea of what (we think) is going to happen.
Fly to Ukraine
SDA appointment on 1/21 in Kiev (capital)
within a day or two receive formal referral
go to region where child is located
formally accept referral after meeting child
begin process to get court date
have court (about 2-3 weeks to get to this point)
Mike flies home
10 business day "appeal period" (2 more weeks)
get custody of child
receive new birth certificate
begin process for paperwork to return to US
return to Kiev with child
bring child for medical, visa, and get passport
book flights HOME
return to the US! (about another 1-2 weeks)
Meredith, that is more or less correct, except you need to get the passport before you can get the visa. :o) The passport was a lot of "fun" for my family...
