EMMA SIGNED BABY!

And I got it on VIDEO! Oh my, this is a HUGE thing for us. She didn't just do it once without meaning... or happen to comply, she did it over and over.. my goodness, I could just cry, what a BIG STEP this is! Emma's finally starting to communicate back to us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

About our Family

Michael and I have been married for 7 years and have four children. Kristopher was born in February of 2004, Brianna in January of 2006, and in September of 2007 we decided to add to our family through adoption. We added Emma ( born February 2003) and Micah (born September 2006)to our family from Ukraine in March of 2008.

All four of our children are greatly treasured, and our daughter Brianna's diagnosis of Down syndrome was an answer to prayer. I'm sure that sounds strange to many, but Mike and I had considered adopting children with special needs for a long time and she was our "definite yes" to that journey! Both of our new arrivals share the Ds diagnosis, and Emma has the same heart defect that Brianna had repaired.

Children with disabilities in Eastern European countries are treated much like they would have been in the 1950's here in the US. They are given up at birth and put into orphanages and then mental institutions. Some countries transfer the children to MI's as early as 4 yrs old and some will now allow adoptions after that time. It is critical that these children find homes in developed countries and receive the love, affection, and medical attention that they need!
