The Crib Tent

So... anyone used one?? Is it worthwhile if a child is small enough to fit nicely in a crib still but... flexible... enough to be able to get their leg up on the rail and... scary... enough to not realize it will hurt when they fall over the edge?? I know it's to keep the child in and the pets out (we don't have any pets) but I'm curious whether it really DOES keep the child in, or whether I should be looking in a different direction?

For Emma this was suggested to us as well a year or so ago but she was really already getting big for the crib. My 'other' child isn't too big... just too skilled in the ways of the monkey :)

I know a few bloggers who have used them so thought I'd see if there was any feedback from you all before spending the money to find out myself :)

THANKS!

  1. I LOVE mine! I have them on 2 cribs and they were worth every dime I spent on them, which was on Craigslist, by the way.
There are two different styles, one in just the tent on the top and the slats are still open, and the other, more modern one is the tent on the top and a mesh like interior that goes inside the crib, and the mattress goes over it. So it covers the slats. Fully enclosed.

I have one of each and I like the fully enclosed one better, but either work well. Plus, my husband said they were easy to put on :)

  2. We used it when our son was about a year old. We discovered he was not only climbing out of the crib, but climbing on the rails to get things off of a high shelf in his room. I felt funny using it at first, but it was really a safety issue for us. He eventually (quickly actually) figured out how to unzip it, so we had to make adjustments.

  4. Yes, we used a crib tent for our daughter who crawled out of bed at a very early age during naptime and toddled out into the backyard where her brothers were playing baseball and got hit by a bat! We were seriously worried about her safety after that and purchased one of these, and were VERY happy with it! It also helped because she started sleeping in her crib instead of crawling out, and was consequently a much happier child. Please feel free to email me with any questions, but I would highly recommend it. We, too, were very skeptical before we got it, but it turned out to be wonderful. Lori, mom to ten great kids!

  5. A family I nannied for for many years decided to use a crib tent for the same reasons and it worked BEAUTIFULLY! Gave the parents peace of mind and their daughter slept better. I would highly recommend it! :)

  6. yep had one. Maia was an absolute WILD CHILD. I am not kidding. she would be up and over and out in a flash! a blink! I got the cribtent that has a complete enclosure. so you take out the mattress, put up the crib tent and put the mattress inside the mesh. so no nookies fell out anymore, no toys fell out. and no babies fell out. it was a good hundred bucks spent. it got where if I forgot to zip it she wouldnt climb out she would cry and yell for me to zip it! she did eventually destroy it but it lasted a couple years. the zipper broke and then the poles got broken and by then she was big enough for a bed. she didnt sleep a single night in her bed after that, she slept with her sissy and still does.

  7. I have heard of the same problem that someone else mentioned...the child learning (quickly) how to open the tent. I can't remember what they did to prevent that. This was also the child that had to have their diaper duct taped on and their pjs put on backwards. :)
    Ahh, memories!

  8. We got one for Braeden when we were waiting to have an MRI on his neck for what the doctors thought was AAI, the day after we got the call that his xray looked bad my husband woke up to Braeden standing next to the bed! We freaked out because he was supposed to be on limited activity and here he was deciding to climb out of his crib for the first time!! We love it, it gives you piece of mind forsure!! We plan on using it until he's too big for his crib!!

  9. We have the mesh type that encloses the inside of the whole crib as well as having the tent. We love it! It has worked great so far with Irina! We got it on Amazon.com and it came super fast, even with the free shipping option!
