Immune Support

So...What are some good immunity support supplements we can introduce to our children this week to build up their immune systems in preparation for starting school in just 11 days?

I know of a few things, and I'm looking around online to find them.  I'm specifically looking for supplements, though I know things like Orange juice are great, since several of my kids' intake is so specific that I'd like to be able to give them the boost as well (such as James and Wesley both on Pediasure almost exclusively... so something that I can add to a meal or drink).  It also needs to be either a powder, crushable pill, or liquid form...

Off to look but thought I'd ask here as well :)  Thanks!

  1. Behind the counter at target pharmacy or on the shelves at whole foods we get powder probiotics and we also give them Elderberry Syrup everyday, up their dose when sick.

Beeyoutiful you has some topnotch products. I linked you to immune system specifically but all their products are great.

  3. I am an elementary teacher (currently teaching preschool). I take elderberry syrup (the thick, unfortunately expensive kind from the health food store--the pure stuff) everyday and two doses a day went I don't feel great. I haven't caught anything but one stomach bug in the last two years. I can't say enough about it.

Another, less expensive option is the emergen-c powders, but I don't know if those are for kids.

  4. Meredith, there is a great liquid probiotic that you can buy from good healthfood stores. It is in the refrigerated case. It comes in blueberry or strawberry flavor; it does contain milk. They don't do a soy version that I am aware of. It is very easy to add to any liquid. :) You never know, it may help with some of your children's digestive issues. I also just ordered some Omega supplements from Nordic Naturals that offer immune support as that is a constant battle for Miss Annie. I'll let you know if it helps. Hugs to all! :) Theresa

  6. You can make Elderberry Syrup for a lot cheaper than buying it. We make it in big batches and then put them in canning jars. Just find the best online herbal retailer that carries elderberries. We usually end up buying them from mountainroseherbs.com and a how to make video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOYzWyFGkqM

  7. Add thyme to their food at least once a day. It boosts the immune system amazingly well! My kids haven't been sick since I started giving it to them a year ago. Amazing!
