ahhh!

On our trip we used a black garbage bag for our dirty clothes. Today I've been dumping it a load at a time into the washing machine. I made it through 2 loads and as I put the 3rd load into the dryer I noticed... ick.

One of Emma's diapers made it into the washing machine!!!!!!!!!

Not just any diaper. No, this is Emma's diaper. You know, the ones with a super capacity to hold pee. The ones that are made to wear overnight (tho she wears them in the daytime and we add a booster pad in the nighttime). The ones that expand to three times their size. Yep, those.

And now the entire load of laundry is covered in that gooey gel stuff that's inside of diapers!!!!!

I've split the load in half (but left the load size as extra large so there's extra water) and I'm re-running half of it in the washer. If that doesn't work I have no idea what to do!

Any help?!!?

  1. That is a dilemma. First, try shaking out the stuff outside or into a bag of some type. Then, try getting more out by running it thru the dryer with No heat on, just air. That may work. I'd also check the diaper manufacturerer's website to see if they recommend what to do when diapers go through the wash!

You'll probably also have to wipe out the dryer and the washing machine a few times to get out the debris field left behind! lol!

Hey- wait- don't you live in Florida? Run them thru the air only dryer then hang them outside to dry- maybe the wind will take care of the remaining bits! At last resort I guess you could vacuum all the clothes from the wash!

  2. Did that once with my son's diaper. It was a mess. Just shook out the goop as best aspossible. Then washed the load SEVERAL times.(after picking out all the stuff from the washer and dryer)

  3. Done that before too! I had to shake out the clothes and rewash just as you are doing... when you are done you will need to wipe out the wash machine because their will be glumps of goo that wont fit into the drain holes.

If you makes you feel any better I put a RED Sharpie marker through the wash a few weeks ago.. made it all the way through the dryer too! Husband put the marker in his pocket at work and I didnt catch it... it was a dark load but can still see faint red splotches on everything and the dryer drum has red stains on it :(

  4. Oh I have done this SO many times! I just shake the clothes out and re-wash them as many times as it takes to get the gel balls off. Its gross I know.

  6. That has happened to us before, a couple times. I think we ended up washing the load several times, shaking the fabric out outside, and running it through the dryer in hopes the lint catcher would catch all the little goo specks, then maybe shaking it out again to make sure. It is a PAIN!

  7. Oh, yessss....I have had to shake out every article of clothing in the washer, run it again, then dry everything you can on high heat. The globs dehydrate and turn into tiny pellets that conveniently get caught in the lint trap. No fun, but not as hellacious as it may seem at first!

  8. This happened to me. I know it sounds gross, but put it in the dryer first and let the lint trap capture most of the "stuff". But only dry half a load. Then rewash.

  9. LOL.. I just dry them. It comes off into the lint filter. :)

  10. try using some type of lint roller after rewashing them. i can never get all of the stuff off the first time, but eventually it gets better. My twins keep leaving their pull ups in their pj's and no once notices before washing, oh well............

  15. Yeah....I've done that. Once. I was ready to put the washing machine on the curb and burn the clothes. I had to wash several times. Ugh.
